This beginner's introduction to the German language will familiarize students with the German alphabet, numbers, basic greetings and introductions, days of the week, months, seasons, weather, nationalities, conjugation of the verbs haben (to have) and sein (to be), classroom objects, definite and indefinite articles, possessive adjectives, colors, likes and dislikes, food, conjugation of regular and stem-changing verbs, modal verbs, future tense, nominative case, genitive case.
Los Monitos language courses are designed to allow students to develop skills to understand and communicate in another language. Courses for adults employ written and audio activities and reading comprehension; however, an emphasis is placed on developing students? conversational ability. Students are given opportunities in each class to practice speaking, and a CD is supplies for practice.
All Los Monitos courses are taught by instructors who are native to the language they are teaching. In some exceptions, non-native instructors who have reached a superb linguistic ability level and who are intimately familiar with the culture(s) of their language are allowed to teach. In every course, instructors interweave pertinent and interesting cultural information into the language course.
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
· Comprehend simple spoken German
· Understand basic German Grammar
· Speak German using common expressions
· Conjugate verbs in the present tense
