Tsuga Community Commission (TCC) is an Oregon 501-C-3 Nonprofit organization. TCC was founded in 2008 to serve as a social entrepreneurship initiative to build community capacity and social capital between and within Oregon youth communities. TCC conducts and responds to needs assessments identifying opportunities in youth development and community enhancement to build custom residential camp programming with complimentary professionals and collaborative organizations to produce sustainable social capital networks.
Summer is the most exciting and fun season each year, and summer camp is certainly a fun and exciting place to be! We know that camp is fun all on its own, and that our responsibilty to create the sense of place and purpose associated with all that positive energy. Camp is more than a place to have fun, but also a venue where new and existing communities can form their shared identity, create tradition, and build social capital. Residential camp facilities provide an ideal venue for families, neighborhoods, and emerging concept communities to meet, participate in open discourse, and build a set of community goals.
Participants in TCC programming leave camp knowing that they not only fit into a group, but that they developed that group and its shared values. The sense of belonging they feel to a place and time they helped create stays with them for years after camp and and stands as a most important moment in their early lives.
