In this action-packed camp, named for the off-limits area of Mt. St. Helens, we will explore the Northwestâs active volcanic history. We will learn how volcanos have shaped the landscape and the importance of the basalt flows that impacted the northern part of our state. We will travel to Washington and go caving in the Mount St. Helens Ape Cave Lava Tube. Thursday we will camp overnight at June Lake on the south side of Mt. St. Helens. This will be a backpacking trip as it is a 1.4 mile hike to the lake.
