About This Activity

ONLINE REGISTRATION IS CLOSED. You can still register on Friday afternoon [between 4-7:30 PM] or the morning of the ride [starting at 6 AM].

Weather forecasts show great weather for the ride.

 

Presented by the Sacramento Wheelmen, this year's 39th Sierra Century offers four routes for the seasoned cyclist that start/end at the Amador County Fairgrounds in Plymouth:

•Half Metric (35 miles, 1400 ft. elevation gain) goes to Ione and loops back to Plymouth.

•Metric (65 miles, 4500 ft. elevation gain) follows the Half Metric route to Ione and continues on to Sutter Creek, Volcano, Daffodil Hill, and Fiddletown.

•Century (102 miles, 7400 ft. elevation gain) follows the Metric route to Fiddletown and continues up to Mt. Aukum, Fair Play and Slug Gulch before returning to Plymouth through the Shenandoah Valley.

•Double Metric Challenge (122 miles, 10,000 ft. elevation gain) follows the Century route to the top of Slug Gulch and adds an extra loop with additional climbing before returning to the Fairgrounds.

 All rides are fully supported by rest and water stops, SAG vehicles, bicycle mechanics, flaggers, law enforcement personnel, and a large corps of volunteers. For more details about the routes, including elevation changes, go to www.sierracentury.org.

The ride will be held rain or shine. NO REFUNDS. However, you will be able to transfer your registration or you can purchase ride insurance.

 

Parking:

Plenty of free parking at the Amador County Fairgrounds. Once at the Fairgrounds, follow the signs and volunteer flaggers.

 

Continental breakfast:

A continental breakfast will be available during morning registration.

 

Post-Ride Meal:

The post-ride meal will be served starting at 12 Noon and closing at 6:00 PM.  Event Closes: 6:00 PM

Options for overnight:

(1)  There are a variety of hotels, BnBs, and cottages in the nearby area. For a complete listing of places to stay in the Amador County area, please go to www.touramador.com. (2)  Horizons 49er Village and RV Resort is next door to the Fairgrounds in Plymouth is another option. To make your reservation, go to www.49ervillage.com or call (209) 245-6981. Be sure to mention the Sierra Century and code: SWSC to receive your discount.

(3)  Tent Camping: The Amador County Fairgrounds provides plenty of space for tent camping. Tent camping is $25, per night, (2-person max.). Reservations can be made during event registration.

(4)  RV Parking: The Amador County Fairgrounds has RV parking with water and electrical hookup available for $30, per night. Reservations can be made during event registration.

There are a limited number of showers at various locations at the Fairgrounds (see Fairgrounds site map at sierracentury.org).

 

Merchandise:

Sierra Century jerseys are available for purchase when you register for the ride, and on the day of the ride. Order early for the best size availability. We will also be selling our previous years Sierra Century merchandise at discounted prices during the day of the ride at the Merchandise Table (limited quantities are available).

This is sure to be a fun and challenging day. Except for the Half Metric route, these routes have long, sustained climbs with a few steeper climbs depending upon your selected route, please train properly.

 

Event schedule and times

Registration check-in: Friday May 30, 2014 from 4:00-7:30 PM. Saturday, from 6-9 AM.

Start Time: Double Metric and Century riders need to be on the course by 7:00 AM.

 

  • The rest stop in Ione opens at 6:45 AM
  • The next rest stop at Lions Club Park, east of Sutter Creek, opens at 7:00 AM
  • Double Metric riders must leave the Rest Stop at the top of Slug Gulch ( at Omo Ranch), by 2:00 PM.
  • Late Double Metric riders will be redirected to the Century course.
