The event will is held to honor the fallen firefighters and retired members that have served the citizens of the Town of Pine Level and the Pi-Le Fire District. All proceeds will go towards a PLVFD Fallen Firefighter memorial site and scholarship program in their remembrance.
Now in its third year, this 5K race had 35 finishers in 2012. Barry Fennell won the race in a course record 19:03. Sara Stephenson was the top woman finisher in 22:19. Meghan Hegarty holds the women’s course mark of 20:28 set in 20:11.
Race Day Schedule
On race day, late registration and packet pickup opens at 7 am. The 5K and mile start at 8:15 am and the Jr. Firefighters begins at 9 am.
The entry fee is $25 for the 5K and $30 after March 20th. All those entering by the 20th are guaranteed a shirt. For the mile, the fee is $15 (shirt included) or $10 (no shirt). However to be guaranteed a shirt the $15 fee must be received by March 20th. The fee for the Jr. Firefighters Dash (limited to children ages 12 and under) is $2.50 and does not include a shirt.
In the 5K awards will be given to the top three males overall, to the top three females overall, and to the top three finishers in each of the following age groups: (both sexes) 9-under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60-over. All finishers in the Jr, Firefigthers Dash will also get an award. All first-time 5K runners will receive a medal upon finishing.
The race takes place at the Pine Level Volunteer Fire Department located at 110 West Main Street in Pine Level. The Town of Pine Level is just a few mile east of Smithfield
