About This Activity

Teens 13 to 17 years of age who are interested in experiencing leadership training in the field of recreation should complete a Volunteer Application and submit the application to the Central Division Office (2700 N. 15th Avenue). Participants will then be selected from the applications and placed at recreation centers throughout the Central Division. The Teen Volunteers will attend a mandatory program orientation, which will include leadership responsibilities, public relations, policies and procedures. The Teen Volunteer Program will be offered at the following recreation centers: Eastlake Park Community Center, Longview Neighborhood Recreation Center, Luke Krohn Recreation Center, Sidney P. Osborn Recreation Center, Verde Park and University Park." Students will learn how to respond to medical emergencies, like cuts, scrapes, and bleeding. Also covered is choking, burns, broken bones, nosebleeds, and breathing difficulties. Students will be guided through case studies and scenarios so they learn what to do in an emergency and develop ways to not only use their skills, but do in a way that calms both themselves and the injured party.
