For many of us, we see and drink the Schuylkill River every day (40% of our drinking water comes from it), yet we rarely interact directly with it. We will spend our mornings fishing along the Schuylkill River and exploring the basics of casting, baiting, and reeling. A range of bait will also be tested, and data will be recorded daily to keep track of our findings. In the afternoon, we will explore the structures that allow us to stand over this and other rivers: bridges. The engineering and design of bridges has evolved over the centuries, yet some basic principles remain. Campers will design and create their own bridges using various materials. By the end of the week, each participant will have created a scale model of a bridge that is not only functional, but also has a style straight out of his or her imagination! Early drop off is available at no additional cost from 8:00am-9:00am. Optional Extended Day available from 3:00-5:30pm each day. Please select this option during registration.
