Tai Chi Chuan is a very old form of martial arts that originated in China. A series of exercises were developed to train fighters in areas of physical fitness, balance and centering. They were also used to develop the type of relaxation that permits individuals to optimize their physical and mental abilities. Today it has been recognized that almost everybody can benefit from these exercises. Recent research has indicated that Tai Chi can provide better results in reducing falls among the elderly than weight training, balance training, aerobics and stretching.
