Gymnastics instruction for youth in the various disciplines. During this 45-minute class, taught by the professional staff of Arizona Sunrays Gymnastics & Dance Center, gymnasts receive instruction on tumbling, vaulting, and low beam. Physical challenges are presented in the form of progressions. Target skills are broken down into manageable drills with the resulting effect of many moments of mini successes. Gymnasts experience increased flexibility, develop muscular strength, and improve agility. Self-confidence is a wonderful by-product of this class and "I can do it!" is a common student statement. This class provides Baby Sitter Certification for participants who are planning to baby sit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. The class covers age appropriate child care, bedtime techniques, infant and child CPR and First Aid. Parents are guided through proper spotting techniques for working with their tot on low balance beam, springboards, and tumbling mats. Our curriculum includes eye/hand coordination activities with colorful props. Occasional musical activities add to the thrill of class. It is recommended that students practice math homework for one hour everyday for the success of this material. Geometry introduces the study of points, segments, triangles, polygons, circles, solid figures, and their associated relationships as a mathematical system. Powers of abstract reasoning, spatial visualization and logical reasoning patterns are improved through this class. Points, segments, triangles, polygons, circles, and solid figures are the structures studied. The focus is on comparisons between these figures concerning surface areas, volumes, congruency, similarity, transformations, and coordinate Geometry. Basic math and Algebra skills are use throughout the class.
