Imagine game night at the Xbox - but this time you are playing in a world that your child built! In this class, we work with students on both the visual and strategic side of game building. We introduce your child to the world of Project Spark. Project Spark is an interactive playground built by Microsoft with tools that allow a community of gamers to tell their stories, create their games, and share them with their friends on desktops and Xbox One. The Project Spark community has more than 1,000,000 games made by tens of thousands of game makers. As a key part of the class, integrated art classes provide a survey of major art movements and the emotions/moods conveyed - with discussions about how to convey emotions visually in their game. Kids learn the basics of visual design: how do they want their game to feel like? are there artists they learned about that convey those emotions? Kids also work with their tech instructors to learn the fundamentals of Project Spark and plan out their adventure before they start using the tool: it is a hero quest? what type of world will it take place in? Using the amazing community of tools in Project Spark, combined with their imaginations and Sparkiverse guides, there’s no end to what kids can build. REMINDER: TUITION INCLUDES LUNCH, SNACKS, LAB FEES, EARLY DROP-OFF AND AFTER CAMP!
