Let’s use games as the format for innovation and roll the arts into tech! This class combines circuitry, art design, and game strategy to spark the creativity of the students to create their own board game and Kickstarter video. Students begin by designing and constructing his or her own “Operation” style electronic game. Students learn the basics of the underlying electronics and create their own version by assembling the circuits, customizing the artwork, and 3D-drawing the pieces for their games. Each student keeps their game to play with friends and family. Then we move to putting creative skills to use by embarking on more complex effort - to make his or her own board game. Students work in small teams to choose the subject of their game. Integrated art classes provide a survey of major art movements and the emotions/moods conveyed - with discussions about how to convey emotions visually in their game. Next, they design every aspect of the game -- including character selection, board type, game play, rules, winning conditions, artwork, box design, etc. We wrap up the class by having your kid film a Kickstarter video - with Sparkiverse donating a percentage of proceeds from the Kickstarter site to local school educational funds. REMINDER: TUITION INCLUDES LUNCH, SNACKS, LAB FEES, EARLY DROP-OFF AND AFTER CAMP!
