K9 Nose Work-Basic-Intro to Scent Work Workshop
Portola Community Center 45-480 Portola Avenue Palm Desert, CA 92260 Organized by Desert Recreation DistrictAbout this event
Description
We're sorry, but this activity is over. The last meeting was Thursday, August 29, 2024.
This beginner (basic) series focuses on teaching you how to encourage and develop your dog's natural scenting abilities. We utilize their desire to hunt and their love of food and toys. Scent work is a great way for dogs to have fun, build confidence and burn lots of mental and physical energy.
This scent detection class mimics the environment of professional working dogs which are crated or confined when not working. It is preferred that the dogs be crated during class; unless your dog can sit or lay down quietly next to you during class.
If enrolled, please bring your dog to class on a flat buckle collar and a 6-10 foot leash. No pull harness or flex-leads. Longer leashes or long lines are preferred for container searches while a shorter leash is preferred for vehicle searches. No shock collars, prog collars, choke chains or slip leads are allowed as our goal is to create a force free environment through positive reinforcement.
If interested in dropping in, please call the center prior to the class date to receive necessary information on what is required on the day of attendance.
