US Women's Triathlon Series
Part of the Women's Triathlon Series (Naperville, IL, Lake Las Vegas, NV and San Diego, CA), San Diego is the site of a premiere women only triathlon. It is a full weekend of fitness related seminars, training sessions, a Health and Fitness Expo and a post race festival. The event is open to 2000 women.
Elite Division - Sprint Distance Only
Individuals in this Sprint Distance Division are competing only with other women in this catagory. Must have ranked within the top ten in your age group and/or top 3 finisher in their respective age group category in a race of 300 or more females within the past racing year. Will be seeded into early waves of the competition and will only be competing with other Elite Division Athletes for overall awards - will not be eligible for age group awards.
Age Division - Sprint and Supersprint Distance
Individuals will be competing with women of their same age within 5 year increments for the Sprint (14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 60-64 , 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+) and the following for the Supersprint (14 & Under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79 and 80+).
Triumph Division - Sprint & Supersprint Distance
This Division is open to women in all stages of treatment and recovery from cancer and members of Team Hope are able to race in this wave. You will be not be eligible for age group awards. Space in this wave is limited.
Relay Team Division - Sprint Distance Only
Relay Team Division - 2-3 women per team collectively complete all three segments of the Sprint Distance Division or the Supersprint Distance.
Family Division - Sprint and Supersprint Distance
New this year is the Family Division which is open to female family members that wish to race in the same wave. Women in this division will start in a separate wave and are not eligible for age group awards. Space is limited.
T-shirt and Awards
All participants receive a technical tank top, race number imprinted with their name and event race bag. All finishers of the event also receive a finishers medal. Overall awards go to the top three overall finishers and awards also to to the top 3 women by age groups in each division. Awards for the relay team go to the top three relay teams (two or three members).
Health and Fitness Expo
On Saturday, October 17th, a mandatory Health and Fitness Expo takes place at South Shores Park in Mission Bay (the race site). There will be plenty to do and see including clinics on training and nutrition, course talks and bargains on shoes and apparel. All participants must attend the expo to pick up their race materials. The expo is from 10-4 PM.
Refund and Transfer Policy
There are no refunds for this event. If you cannot participate in the event due to a medical reason, we will allow you to transfer your entry to the 2010 event. Please contact info@caprievents.com for more details on the medical transfer policy.
Charity
This event raises money for The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, through direct donations and through competitors' participation in Team Hope. The OCRF is devoted to the formulation of early diagnostic treatment programs and research towards finding a cure for Ovarian Cancer. It also supports patients and their loved ones and provides outreach programs and raises public awareness of the disease.
Team Hope
Team Hope is a sponsored team that raises money for OCRF through donations and receives a great package of gifts, including coaching and racing gear, for their efforts. Once you register for the event, you will be notified of the opportunity to join this wonderful group of caring people.
