Course

The 5k course is an out and back course in which the participants will run through Bore 4 of the Fort McHenry Tunnel in Baltimore, Maryland.

The race course is closed to bikes, skaters and baby joggers/strollers. Water will be provided on course and at the start and finish line. Splits provided at the one and two mile marks.

Awards

To the top three male and female overall. Age Group Awards to the top three male and females in the following age groups: 15 & under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.

Amenities

The first 500 pre-registered runners will receive a t-shirt and all event participants are welcome to join in the post race celebration to include light refreshments.

Directions & Parking
I-95 NORTHBOUND:
* Take I-95N to the Fort McHenry Tunnel.
* Continue through the Fort McHenry Tunnel.
* Take the 2nd exit after paying the toll, (Exit 57) O?Donnell St.
* Exit 56 Keith Ave will be closed for the event
* Take a left at the light (at the bottom of the ramp) onto Boston St
* Make immediate left back onto IS-95 South
* Take the exit just prior to the toll plaza - Keith Avenue, (Exit 56)
* At the end of the exit ramp (at the light), take a left onto Keith Avenue.
* Make an immediate left onto Leland Ave for Tunnel Run Parking.

I-95 SOUTHBOUND:
* Take I-95S towards the Fort McHenry Tunnel.
* Take the exit just prior to the toll plaza - Keith Avenue, (Exit 56)
* At the end of the exit ramp (at the light), take a left onto Keith Avenue.
* Make an Immediate left onto Leland Ave for Tunnel Run Parking.

Special Olympics Waiver on the Entry Forms Will Need to be Signed

SPECIAL OLYMPICS MARYLAND RELEASE AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY, ASSUMPTION OF RISK, AND INDEMNITY, AND PARENTAL CONSENT AGREEMENT (AGREEMENT) In consideration of participating in the Special Olympics Maryland Fort McHenry Tunnel Run 5K Run/Walk (Activity), I represent that I understand the nature of Fort McHenry Tunnel Run 5K Run/Walk events and that I and/or my minor child am qualified, in good health, and in proper physical condition to participate in such Activity. I acknowledge that if I and/or my minor child believe event conditions are unsafe, I and/or my minor child will immediately discontinue participation in the Activity.

I fully understand that Fort McHenry Tunnel Run 5K Run/Walk events involve risks of serious bodily injury, including permanent disability, paralysis and death, which may be caused by my own actions, or inactions, those of others participating in the event, the conditions in which the event takes place, or the negligence of the releasees named below; and that there may be other risks either not known to me or not readily foreseeable at this time; and I fully accept and assume all such risks and all responsibility for losses, costs, and damages I and/or my minor child incur as a result of my and/or my minor child's participation in the Activity.

I hereby release, discharge, and covenant not to sue Special Olympics, Inc., Special Olympics Maryland, its respective administrators, directors, agents, officers, volunteers, and employees, other participants, any sponsors, advertisers, and, if applicable, owners and lessors of premises on which the Activity takes place, (each considered one of the RELEASEES herein) from all liability, claims, demands, losses, or damages on my account caused or alleged to be caused in whole or in part by the negligence of the releasees or otherwise, including negligent rescue operations; and I further agree that if, despite this release, waiver of liability, and assumption of risk I, or anyone on my and/or my minor child's behalf, makes a claim against any of the Releasees, I will indemnify, save, and hold harmless each of the releasees from any loss, liability, damage, or cost which any may incur as the result of such claim.

I have read this RELEASE AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY, ASSUMPTION OF RISK, AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT, AND PARENTAL CONSENT AGREEMENT, understand that I have given up substantial rights by signing it and have signed it freely and without any inducement or assurance of any nature and intend it be a complete and unconditional release of all liability to the greatest extent allowed by law and agree that if any portion of this agreement is held to be invalid the balance, notwithstanding, shall continue in full force and effect.

Safety Measures

To help ensure a safe and enjoyable event for all, the following policies will be enforced:

*Backpacks, fanny packs and bags/diaper bags are NOT permitted unless made of see-through material. We encourage Walkers to use clear plastic bags to carry items.

*Jogging, pets, portable radios, bikes, roller-skates/blades/shoes and other wheeled transportation are prohibited.

*Wheelchairs, strollers and small wagons used to carry children are permitted.

For security and safety reasons, there are NO EXCEPTIONS. Individuals possessing prohibited items will not be permitted to participate in the event. The MdTA will not be responsible for items left at the registration areas.
