Brief Description:

Sprint distance triathlon for individual and team participants. The Camp Whitcomb/Mason Triathlon is a USAT sanctioned event. ChampionChip(r) timing by Sports Management Associates, Inc.

 

Distances:

1/3 mile swim, 22 mile bike, 3.1 mile run

 

Why this event is special

All triathlon proceeds stay at Camp Whitcomb/Mason to provide needed services to youth.

 

Packet Pick-up

Athletes must show PHOTO ID and current USAT annual membership card or proof of one-day license at packet pickup. NO EXCEPTIONS! No ID No Race! Packets may not be picked up by anyone other than competing athlete. Individuals or relay. Packet pick-up and weekend of race registration will be held at Camp at Meinerz Friendship Lodge, Saturday, August 8th 10:00am - 2:00 p.m. and race day 6:00-7:45am. All athletes must check in on race day for body marking & ChampionChip(r) pickup.

 

Swim Course

The out and back swim will take place in Lake Keesus with temperatures expected to be in the mid to upper 60's. Athletes start in waves of 40-50, 3 minutes apart. Camp issued swim caps are mandatory.

 

Bike Course

Hilly, looped course through the Kettle Moraine. Buckled helmets are mandatory. Please exercise caution on race day, as all roads will be open to automobile traffic. [ Edit | Delete ]

 

Run Course

Looped course with 2 water stations. Beginning 1/8-mile is wood chipped trails, continues and finishes on paved roads. A fluid station will be located at the run start and at each mile of the course.

 

Two Transition Areas

Cycling and running gear must each be placed in seperate designated transition areas, which are located 1/8 mile apart. Transition areas will only be accessible to athletes and race staff/volunteers. Riding bikes within transition areas is prohibited. The bike finish is located at the base of a hill, slow down and dismount bike, before entering the transition area.

 

Divisions/Awards

The awards ceremony will begin after the final participant crosses the finish line. or at Noon. Awards will be presented to the overall male/female age group, top three Clydesdale/Athena division winners, top three male/female winners in each age group (15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60+) and the top three relay teams. Awards will not be mailed to participants.

 

Parking

Onsite parking. Volunteers will be directing parking.

Spectators

Pets are not allowed on Camp property. Family and friends are welcome. We ask that they observe from a safe distance and do not walk on the course or in the transition areas and obey all posted signs and course staff. Transfer/Refund Policy

All entries are non-refundable. Entries may be transferred up to 30 days prior to the race (July 9, 2009) for a $15 fee.

Sanctioning

USA Triathlon is the national governing body for the sports of triathlon, duathlon, winter triathlon and aquathlon in the United States.
