Brief Description
Two simultaneous events have challenging hills and turns in the bike and run events. Still, the natural beauty of the area will get in your blood as you get in touch with nature. A full description plus course maps are accessible at http://cc.local4all.com
Additional Information
Crooked Creek Lake is a Flood Prevention lake and, as such, water levels are manipulated to prevent flooding in the Allegheny River Valley and downstream. In 2003 and 2004, the beach was flooded and the area closed - meaning no swim event and losing 1.6 miles total of the bike and run courses (.8 out and .8 back.) For 2007, road patching by PennDOT on the normal bike course route was sufficient reason to alter it. Watch cc.local4all.com for up-to-date information.
Intermediate distance (near-Olympic) of 1500 meter swim, 37k bike, 10k run;
Short distance (Sprint): 750 meter swim, 17.5k bike, 5k run. (A 65+ male category has been added in the Sprint.)
The course is challenging with some uphill to make this event the best around, and with some downhill to let you coast and enjoy the scenery. See you there.
KUDOS to Venture Crew 630 for their help in past years and for becoming even more active in 2007. They are inviting Venture Crews from all over the region to volunteer at this year's event.
Nearby: Local activities can be found at 16226.local4all.com (Ford City calendar, click nearby for more listings) Come in early and stay late - enjoy 'smalltown America' by the Allegheny River.
