Additional Information

ROCK ALS with SK6ERS On Wednesday, August 10th, 2005, I, Amy Olney, cordially invite you to attend in the Rock ALS Benefit at the City Club in downtown San Francisco (www.cityclubsf.com). Rock ALS is a benefit to raise money for the ALS Treatment and Research Center at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). Your registration online will include an evening full of wine/beverages and hors d'oeurves and a concert by the band Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers. You can listen to their music for free on the website, www.stephenkellogg.com.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gerhig’s disease, is a fatal degenerative neurological disease. Diagnosed almost as frequently as Multiple Sclerosis, one out of every 1,000 people will develop ALS in their lifetime. My father Dr. Richard Olney founded the ALS Treatment and Research Center that provides multidisciplinary care to people with ALS. In addition, the ALS Center performs research that investigates many unknowns of the disease; such as the cause and effective medications. Unfortunately and ironically, my father was diagnosed with ALS in May 2004. Since then, he has retired from being a neurologist that dedicated his life to treating people with ALS and has become a person with ALS himself.

My father and I listen to Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers often when I am taking care of him. I really wanted my father to see the band in concert because they put on an energetic show with fantastic music! When I noticed the band had no tour dates scheduled for San Francisco in the near future, I contacted their manager and gave them a reason to come to San Francisco sooner than later... to ROCK ALS!

All of the proceeds from Rock ALS will support the ALS Treatment and Research Center. This will help ensure that the ALS Center continues its groundbreaking research and high quality patient care. Please register for the event today!! If you can get $100+ worth of contributions from your co-workers and peers, your admission to the event will be free!

Once you register, your name will be put on a list to enter the City Club on August 10th, 2005 (i.e. no tickets will be mailed to you; you will get an email to confirm your registration). In addition, the fundraiser who receives the most donations will receive a prize! Thank you! Amy Olney
