Let the Kids Help

Get your kids interested by letting them cook with you. When you include them in this process they can see that you're using the same ingredients you use at home. Try these two recipes on your next camping trip.

Grilled Cheese

A picky eater's favorite meal is a simple grilled cheese sandwich, which is easy to make at the campsite with a pie iron. Allow your kids to butter the bread, stack the cheese and place the sandwich inside the pie iron. Let it sit in the coals for 2 to 3 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown.

Stick Biscuits

Biscuits are delicious and easy to make; all you need is a stick that's about 1 inch in diameter. Send your kid to find a stick, and then cover the end of it with aluminum foil and coat the area with non-stick cooking spray. Open a can of biscuits and wrap one around the end of the stick. Let your child roast it over the fire for a delicious hot biscuit. Serve with butter, jam, or honey.
