What's Included

ECOS will be providing weekly programs this 2014-2015 school year! Our current schedule allows us to be at Burfoot Park in Olympia every Wednesday. With our weekly programs, we will have the opportunity to develop more lasting relationships which lead to depth in learning. The Woodpeckers is a dynamic multiage program, offering two inter-connected programs. Our community based learning model will offer the opportunity for students to teach and learn from each other, but the distinct age-groups outlined below will engage students in developmentally appropriate projects and activities that will challenge them in ways that optimize their learning. Pileated Woodpeckers: The Pileated Woodpeckers are our six to ten year old students. Our older students have a chance to develop fine motor skills, focus on concrete learning, develop social confidence, focus on individual interests, and develop as leaders and mentors. Some Pileated Woodpeckers activities include project-based learning, teaching and mentoring opportunities, team-building activities, nature study and journaling, adventure-based learning experiences, and through various types of artistic expression. The Field Trip Package is available at a discount for all weekly program participants. (40% off!) We hope you’ll join us on our Monthly Sunday Field trips to various local attractions, such as Nisqually Wildlife Refuge, Mima Mounds, Tolmie State Park, Rainbow Falls State Park, Olympia Watershed Park, Capitol Forest, and More! (8 trips total)
