Ojai is nestled below the stunning mountain views of the Los Padres National Forest. The historic downtown has wonderful parks, restaurants, and mission style architecture. Ojai has had a colorful cycling history, including: home of the former Garrett Lemire Memorial Grand Prix, Ventura Stage Race 2, and much of the Amgen TOC Stage 6 for 2006-08. If you haven't ridden “The Ojai”, this ride is a must. After the ride, stay in one of Ojai's local inns and enjoy the town’s ambience for the weekend.

Half Metric Century, Metric Century, Full Century, Hammerhead Century and Double Metric Century
Metric Century (62 miles)
The Metric century leaves Ojai heading west over Casitas Pass, which is the one major climb on the metric route. From there the route heads out to Carpinteria and then down the coast to Ventura. From Ventura the route heads up a very gradual grade back into Ojai. The estimated maximum elevation is approximately 1,200 feet with a total elevation gain of about 2,270 ft.
Full Century (100 miles)
The Century heads west over Casitas Pass over many of the same roads used by the Amgen Tour of California in the past. The ride continues on through Carpinteria, Montecito and Summerland before heading south along the coast to Ventura and eventually Santa Paula where you will connect with highway 150 to upper Ojai and down the twisty Dennison Grade back into town. The max elev is approx 1600 ft with a total elevation gain of approx 3,700 ft.
Hammerhead Century (100 miles)
We are including the popular Hammerhead Century again this year. This route is a challenging century option that will accompany the double metric riders into Los Padres National Forest. The Hammerhead route has approx 5,700 total elevation gain and a maximum elevation of 3,650 feet.
Double Metric Century (134 miles)
The Double Metric route repeats the Century route except for a nice run at the beginning of the ride up Hwy 33 into the Los Padres National Forest to a turn-around at Rose Valley Rd. The Rose Valley leg is uphill virtually the whole way through some of the most beautiful scenery in the area. It is not for the faint of heart! The detour adds an additional 3650 ft. of elevation, making the approx. gain for the Double Metric 6,580 ft.
Half Metric Century (approx 30 miles)
Good for beginning riders that are not quite ready for a metric century or longer ride. The ride starts and finishes in Ojai, and follows the scenic Ojai Bike Trail along the Ventura River to downtown Ventura. A smooth descent of 170' brings you to Ventura and the return with a gentle 1% grade brings you back to the start.

The Sign-in will be at The MOB Shop, 110 West Ojai Avenue in Ojai (see map below). All riders must check in either Friday evening, May 31st from 6 to 8:30pm or Saturday morning, June 1st from 6-8:30am.
We are limiting the number of riders to 800 to ensure quality support. We will accept walk-up registration at Sign-In on Friday evening (6 - 8:30pm) and Saturday morning (6 - 8:30am). We are unable to accommodate credit cards at the event so we ask that payments be made by check or cash. ATMs are located within walking distance of registration.
The course will open at 7am and we ask that all riders start no later than 8:30 a.m. The inland valleys and mountains can be hot this time of year so it is suggested that you plan your start time accordingly.
Helmets are mandatory. Remember this is not a race. Please obey all traffic laws. Come to a complete stop at stop signs and red traffic signals. Ride single file and only pass other riders on their left. Also, be sure to announce your intent to pass.
Expect the weather to vary greatly from the coast to the inland mountains and valleys. Typically in June, you can expect a marine layer along the coast, but this usually burns off quickly inland resulting in temperatures in the 80's and 90's. Be sure to dress accordingly, and carry at least the equivalent of two water bottles.
Please visit our website for a list of hotels in the area. Lodging in the Ojai area can be difficult to obtain this time of year, so be sure to make your reservations early. If Ojai lodging is unavailable, then try neighboring communities, including Ventura, Santa Barbara and Carpinteria. We have secured special discount pricing at several local hotels. Check the OVC website for more details.
