When you're more likely to pass a fast food restaurant on the street than anything else, it's hard to make smart choices. In theory you'll just walk right by those fried food hot spots, but when you're hungry it's difficult to resist temptation. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a way you could know where all of the good-for-you options near you were?
Enter GreenHopping, the mobile app that wants you to totally blow off that order of fries in order find a more health-conscious option. The app works by helping users locate healthy choices like green juice bars and plant-focused restaurants in their city. The message the green app wishes to hammer home is that living a healthy lifestyle shouldn't be a difficult road. In fact, it should be easy since, in order to be in good health, a plant-based diet is totally necessary. And with obvious features like a "Nearby" locator as well as other cool tabs including a "Favorites" section, "Tip of the Day" and even "Recommended" lists, it's impossible not to find a healthy option to strike your fancy.
GreenHopping is still working out the kinks and is specifically working to expand its database of recommendations in the US as well as Europe and Canada—a database that already includes over 900 vegan-friendly options. But there's good news in sight: By the end of the month, the app is growing its database to include way more suggestions in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Chicago, Boston, Washington D.C., Dallas and Austin. Awesome, right?!
The app is available for download on iTunes right now, while updates (including a purchasing feature) will not be available until the fall. Either way, it's time to start scouting some greens! You were already thinking about getting a juice this afternoon anyway, right?
