Charles Stuart Platkin, J.D., M.P.H. is one of the country's leading public health and nutrition advocates, whose syndicated nutrition and fitness column, "Diet Detective" appears in more than 165 daily newspapers across the country. Platkin has written for New York Magazine, Natural Health and Men's Health.

Platkin is also the founder of the health and fitness network, DietDetective.com, which offers thousands of original articles, daily nutrition and fitness news, bloggers, health tools, quizzes, interviews with leading health experts and celebrities, calorie bargains (food/beverage and health product/service reviews), a detailed food nutrient search engine with more than 10,000 foods, podcasts, nutrition and weight-loss programs, and a thriving on-line community.

He is the founder of The Institute for Nutrition & Behavioral Sciences, a non-profit organization that conducts obesity-related research. He received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University, a Juris Doctorate from Fordham University and a Masters in Public Health from Florida International University. He is also a certified personal trainer and is currently completing his PhD in Public Health. He is an Adjunct Professor at the Robert Stempel School of Public Health at Florida International University in Miami.

Platkin is also the founder of Integrated Wellness Solutions, and author five books including the bestselling book, Breaking the Pattern (Plume, 2005), The Diet Detective's Count Down (Fireside, 2007), and the soon-to-be released, The Diet Detective's Calorie Bargain Bible (Simon & Schuster, 2008).
