Come Join Us for Race Day Fun!
The races are all-ages events that start and end at the school in North Salt Lake. They will be run consecutively, so you can run both! The winners take home a Thanksgiving turkey! We emphasize the ‘FUN’ in the 1 Mile Fun Run by encouraging participants to race by whatever means of locomotion they choose: running, walking, biking, skating, scooting, etc. A prize will be given to the most creative contestant. Free t-shirt guaranteed if registered by Wednesday, October 30th.
About Spectrum Academy
Nestled in the valleys of the Wasatch Front, Spectrum Academy is the first charter school in Utah to focus primarily on the unique learning needs of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Through small class sizes, individualized instruction and an innovative social skills curriculum, we help students reach their fullest potential academically, socially and emotionally, so they may enjoy productive and successful futures. We educate over 500 students from all across the Wasatch Front.
About Our Fundraiser
Spectrum Academy’s Turkey Trot is an annual event and consists of a 5K race and 1 Mile Fun Run.The race is a critical school fundraiser, and in 2013 all proceeds from the event will be dedicated to improving access to technology in the classroom, such as through the acquisition of iPads. There is a growing body of scientific evidence that shows the use of iPads and their associated apps in the classroom leads to increased academic gains for students with disabilities such as ASD.
