About This Activity

You aren';t fat, but you eat a reasonable diet, train really hard, and feel like you should be leaner with all the work you do. Lean for a Lifetime is a comprehensive program designed for endurance athletes, incorporating physiology, nutrition, and psychology. We offer no magic elixir, but we will teach you how your body works so that you can work with your body to get lean instead of working against it.

In this 2-hour workshop you will learn how to:

  • Make permanent changes in your body chemistry
  • Eat to fuel your muscle cells, but not your fat cells
  • Get lean without deprivation or hunger
  • Increase your resting metabolic rate so you burn more calories 24 hours a day
  • Learn what triggers hunger and satiety so you can be in charge of your appetite and won';t be hungry
  • Reframe healthy choices so that you WANT them, instead of "having to" make healthy choices
  • Train your body to burn more fat and less carbohydrate

About the Instructor: This workshop will be led by Ken Mierke, author of Lean for a Lifetime: An Athletes Guide to Losing the Last Ten Pounds. Ken';s credentials include:

  • B.S. Exercise Physiology with minors in Nutrition, Biology, and Psychology
  • 2-Time ITU World Champion (2-time gold medalist and 2-time silver medalist)
  • 1996 Olympic Torchbearer
  • Lost 80 pounds himself and kept it off for twenty years
  • USAT Mid Atlantic Region Athlete Development Coordinator, 2002-2003
  • Director of Training, Joe Friel';s Ultrafit, 2002-2004
  • Director, Joe Friel International Coaches Symposium, 2003 and 2004
  • Instructor, USAT Coaches Certification
  • Author, The Triathlete';s Guide to Run Training
  • His client results include winners of 6 World Championships and 29 National Championships, 4 Hawaii Ironman Podium Finishers and multiple Ironman Age Group Course Records

Testimonials for Lean for a Lifetime:

"As I was going through this program and losing a bunch of weight, people would come up to me and tell me that I was inspiring. I didnt really understand because it was a bunch of little things, like adding protein to my diet. It is just all these little things in the program that have become a lifestyle to me and theyre incredibly easy. " - Tony Rios, lost 178 pounds and has kept it off for 4 years

"As a serious athlete, I have never been ';overweight';, but I have thyroid issues and could never get the last few pounds off to be really lean. Lean for a Lifetime provided a completely different approach and I got down to what I consider my perfect weight. For the first time in my life, I can say "I LOVE my body."'; - Elisa Velarde
