What's Included

Organic Auditioning with Los Angeles Casting Director and Talent Manager Matthew Barry (THE OTHER WOMAN, THE NOTEBOOK, MY SISTER'S KEEPER, YELLOW, FREDDY VS. JASON, CON AIR, JOHN Q., RUSH HOUR, RUSH HOUR 2, ALPHA DOG and many more). Barry returns to The Actor Factory for the 7th time to offer one of the studio's most popular two-day workshops, Organic Auditioning. Barry will work with actors age 16 and up on auditioning and cold reading. He will guide actors through his approach to "Organic Auditioning", using material he assigns during the class, plus prepared material. He promises to work on "Improving Strengths and Eliminating Weaknesses." Barry has also taught workshops in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Detroit, North Carolina, San Francisco and Sydney, Australia. "In the ever changing world of film and television, and especially as a casting director, I'm finding more directors and producers are looking for an "organic" approach. Someone who is "natural" yet knows everything about their character. That's how I designed this class. Every day we meet people and we speak with them and we're always thinking. Whether it's "Wow, that dude is weird looking", or "Wow, what a unique looking person", if you say, "May I have a ham sandwich please?" it's going to come out two different ways. Call it the millennium approach to sub-text." "Also, as a casting director, I can show you what to do and what not to do in the casting office," he added. "Making choices, taking direction and making adjustments. I also teach a cold reading exercise that will absolutely guarantee to improve their cold reads 100%. " Barry said each actor will work constantly, and assured that actors will be exhausted and rejuvenated when the weekend is over. "I will work them out, I promise," he said. The workshop is open to any actor aged 16 and up, and is limited to only 22 participants. Cost for the workshop is $395.
