The 2nd Annual ODU Triathlon course will take participants throughout a scenic tour of Old Dominion University and the Student Recreation & Wellness Center. It is a spectator and family-friendly race.The 2nd Annual ODU Triathlon is a USA Triathlon Sanctioned Event and a Paratriathlete Friendly event.
The Swim ? 400 yard Snake Swim CourseThe snake swim will begin with the fastest seeded swimmer. The next fastest swimmer and so on will enter the water at 10-15 second intervals. The swimmers upon entering the water will swim the length of the pool then turn on the wall and then swim back down the pool lane. When they complete the lap they then will swim under the lane and enter lane two and proceed the same way. They will continue snaking up and down the lanes until the distance is completed.The Bike ? 6 Mile Semi-Closed Course.The bike route for the course will include 6 loops on a semi-closed course (local traffic only) on Powhatan Ave. This is a fast one-mile loop course, with two 180 degree turns. Beach cruisers, mountain, hybrids, cyclocross, and road bikes are permitted. Time-trial (i.e. triathlon bikes) will NOT be permitted. Aero-bars will NOT BE ALLOWED on any style bike. This is for the safety of all riders.The Run ? 3.1 Mile Course.The running route is a two-loop course around ODU campus.
