What's Included

Spring is a time for growth, renewal, and new life at the Hermitage. Artists such as Van Gogh, O’Keefe, Warhol, and Galler have all been inspired by the very newness that is spring. During this week learn about these artists and their spring-inspired works of art. Explore a variety of art materials including clay, paint, and mixed media to create landscapes, garden gnomes, woven “bird nests”, and many more spring-inspired works of art. Spend time outside exploring the wetlands, grounds, and gardens at the Hermitage to learn about the many ways that nature can be incorporated into art! The camp day begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m., with a morning session that will run from 9:00 a.m. to noon, lunch and playing time from noon to 1:00 p.m., and the afternoon session from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. The camp day ends promptly at 4:00 p.m.

About This Organizer

The Hermitage Museum and Gardens consists of an early 20th century historic house with a world-wide art collection and contemporary exhibition galleries, surrounded by twelve acres of formal gardens and natural woodlands; educational wetlands; and Visual Arts Studio. It is located within minutes of the largest U.S. naval base, the world's busiest coal pier, and a major East Coast container port. The property is bordered on three sides by the Lafayette River, a tributary of the tidal estuary that threads through Hampton Roads.
