We've been rowing along the Merrimack River for years with kids, and it's one of our most favorite adventures. There's no better way to connect with the rivers and landscapes along our corner of the coastline than by rowing along in a small wooden boat. This summer, we are excited to again partner with Lowell's Boat Shop and launch a new adventure that will take us by dory from Newburport to Essex via the Plum Island River. As we row through the Great Marsh, we'll stop twice overnight to sleep under the stars and align our days by tide, sunlight and moonlight. Our final destination will be Essex Shipbuilding Museum on Thursday. Teens aged 13-17 are invited to join us. Anticipated itinerary is: Monday, 9-4, rowing for the day along the Merrimack River from Amesbury to Maudslay Tuesday, 9 a.m., depart Newburyport waterfront by dory Tuesday night, camping near Parker River Wednesday, row to Essex Wednesday night, camping near Essex Bay Thursday, pick-up at noon at Essex Shipbuilding Museum. Includes all meals Tuesday through Thursday.
