What's Included

YOUR INSTRUCTORS: Doug Hepfer & Mike Evele, coaches of Grandville High School RoboDawg teams which have qualified for the VEX World Championship in two of the last three years – and college-age RoboDawgs from the University of Michigan, Purdue, and Michigan Tech. FEATURED SOFTWARE: easyC and ROBOTC COURSE DESCRIPTION: Equipped with the sophisticated VEX Robotics Design System and sensors, campers will learn coding fundamentals in easyC that will command their bot. This camp focuses on autonomous control, and campers will work with virtually every VEX sensor. They will learn to use sensors including the line tracking kit, the ultrasonic range finder and the light sensor. Campers will work with optical shaft encoders – and they’ll learn how to use gyroscope sensors to track their robot’s movements. Campers will work in small teams in this summer robotics camp for teens. They will be confronted by a series of challenging tasks that continually increase in complexity, prompting them to re-engineer their robot’s mechanics and fine tune its coding instructions. By constantly assessing performance and implementing designs that teams think will be the most effective, they will gain a strong foundation in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) principles of hands-on mechanics, critical thinking and collaboration. All of this camp’s challenges will be built around the 2014-2015 VEX competition game “SKYRISE”. We’ll have a full competition field set up in the lodge, and campers will learn how to use the VEX sensors to build their score in this year’s autonomous challenge. Are you up for four days of non-stop camp fun?
