MMRF PowerTeam: 2012 Ironman US Championship NY/NJ

The MMRF is thrilled to be a charity partner of the inaugural Ironman US Championship NY/NJ. The 140.6 mile race will take place in parts of both New York City and New Jersey, making it the most metropolitan environment ever to host an Ironman. The course will include 2.4 mile swim, in the Hudson River, a 112-mile bike ride on the Palisades parkway in Bergen and Rockland counties and a 26.2 mile run beginning in Fort Lee New jersey and finishing in Riverside Park in Manhattan.

This event sold out on line in 10 minutes. We have a limited number of entries for this event - one of the ‘hottest tickets’ in the TRI community! Join our team and claim yours!

The MMRF invites you to help us raise awareness and funds for multiple myeloma research by taking part in this amazing event. We will be with you every step of the way, from the moment you sign up to the incredible moment that you cross the finish line in Riverside Park. Participating on our team promises to be one of the most empowering and inspiring experiences of your life.

Team members are required to raise a minimum of $5000 each, and will be provided with a personal donation page, tips and sample emails and access to full time fundraising support should they need it. Team members pay $895 at the time of registration, which covers the cost of their event registration, a Champion System team cycling shirt, a 16 week training online plan and other amenities.

In order to ensure that 90% of all funds raised go back to fund myeloma research, each MMRF athlete will be responsible for costs such as transportation and hotel accommodations.

About the MMRF and Multiple Myeloma
The mission of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) is to relentlessly pursue innovative means that accelerate the development of next-generation multiple myeloma treatments to extend the lives of patients and lead to a cure. The MMRF is the world's largest private funder of myeloma research. An outstanding 90% of all funds raised go toward research and related programming. Multiple myeloma is an incurable blood cancer. Although progress has been made in treating multiple myeloma, the five-year survival rate remains one of the lowest of all cancers.

Why Run for our Team?
Our teams raise money and awareness for cancer research. Many members of our teams have a direct connection to multiple myeloma. Others join us to support a great organization that is transforming the way that medical research and drug development are being conducted. All team members are proud to support an organization that is using their money responsibly and is one of the nations' highest rated charities by 'watch dogs' like Charity Navigator, which rates the MMRF in the top 1% of all charities it monitors.
