Focusing on the transformative qualities of unconventional sculpture materials, students use inexpensive, even diposable materials to transform the ordinary and familiar into the extraordinary. Students will be introduced to the work of contemporary artists' work and their aesthetic languages and will mainly focus on process. Emphasizing "play", students work with discarded materials including vinyl, styrofoam, textiles, and a range of industrial remnants, expanding their visual vocabulary. Students will develp new methods and experiment with new media technology to develop a coherent, gallery-ready body of work. The instructor will be present on Monday and Tuesday.
