The Ekiden is a cool relay race created in Japan, and relays are mad fun. Go get your bestie or three of your besties and sign up for The New York City Ekiden today. There are four legs all starting and ending across from Tavern on the Green. 2 and 4 person teams only; you must alternate runners at each leg. Categories: Open (anything goes), Female and Co-Ed (MW or MMWW) in both the 4-person and 2-person relay. Co-Ed teams must have at least two women and one must run leg 2 or 3 (longest legs). Raceday, everything happens right across the Park Drive from Tavern On The Green a few block south of 72nd Street On The West Side. This race will be electronically timed, but theres a twist. In a traditional Ekiden, the runners wear a sash that is passed from runner to runner. After you cross the timing mat you must hand the sash to the next runner. Each runner in the race will receive a long sleeve technical shirt. There will be bathrooms, bag check, water, Gatorade and more at race central. We will determine the food a bit closer to the event. This should be an excellent day of running the entire NYCRUNS team is excited to bring this to you. Were so excited that were fielding a team ourselves. See you at the start line!
