About This Organizer

BCT Brooklyn Children’s Theatre Inc is an after school musical theatre program for children in 1st-12th grades.  We offer performance driven classes where children are cast in and rehearse a musical play.  We believe that many skills are gained from learning theatre for performance.  Not only are children learning skills in acting, singing, and dancing; but they are also learning life lessons such as teamwork, punctuality, accountability, and risk-taking.  Over the course of a session, we see children become more confident, try new things, and make huge leaps in the development of their talents.

Our plays are structured to feature each child to the best of their ability.  We choose material and create pieces where each child gets their own moment to shine.  The shiest of kids gets a chance to come into their own as a performer, and the most confident of kids learns to share the stage with their peers.

The end of session performance gives the children a chance to perform for their community.  They invite teachers, classmates, loved ones, and friends.   The electricity in the air from their live show stays with them for months to come and makes them feel special in a way that only theatre can.

BCT’s Mission:

BCT Brooklyn Children’s Theatre Inc provides youth with a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment to discover and hone their talents and life skills through the collaborative art of musical theatre.

  • ·       Through the rehearsal process students learn discipline, respect, and the value of hard work and a positive attitude.
  • ·       Through ensemble work, students build a strong community in which they learn commitment, trust and how to depend on one another.
  • ·       Through live performances, students develop confidence and learn to take risks.

We especially seek the participation of students who have a gift to give the art of theatre who would not otherwise have theatre or performance opportunities, due to financial/economic or cultural barriers or lack of resources in their schools and communities.

BCT fulfills an underfunded need in which ALL students are welcome, regardless of their economic situation.  No child has ever been refused for an inability to pay.
