What's Included

In this workshop you will learn how to weave strong and beautiful baskets using the long slender branches of locally harvested willow and red osier dogwood. Throughout the day we will cover how to identify, sustainably harvest, and prepare wild willow and dogwood for weaving as well as how to propagate patches for continual use. These versatile and easy to use materials have been used to create vessels for centuries. Using the technique of two-strand twining we will create colorful and hardy baskets that can be used for a multitude of purposes. Join us for a day of laughter, community, and learning as we integrate this ancient knowledge into our lives. It is our goal for everyone to leave with a basket, the knowledge and skill to continue weaving, and inspiration to explore the landscape.
