What's Included

Six Sessions: Tuesdays, September 27; October 4, 11, 18, 25; November 1 Tagliatera Academic Center Room 113. Discussion of several representative tales that illustrate Chaucer’s critique of the patterns of love, sex, and marriage in the social and religious context of the fourteenth century in England. Good stuff! A good translation is required (Neville Coghill, Penguin Books; Kent Hieatt, Bantam Dual Language, or download from Michael Murphy’s Academic Home Page at Brooklyn College. Murphy retains Chaucer’s word order but modernizes the spelling.) All those enrolled should have the Knight’s Tale prepared for the first class on September 27.
