RYPE's mission is to help a drummer or mallet player grow to be a percussionist and to develop into a well-rounded, confident and dynamic musician. A fantastic experience for the young percussionist, RYPE's repertoire includes: core literature; cutting-edge music by emerging artists; tasteful arrangements and adaptations of works by well-known classical composers; entertaining novelty music; authentic World/roots music; and engaging performance art.RYPE performs in a wide variety of musical settings. In 2012, the ensemble appeared at The New Jersey Dayof Percussion at New Jersey City University, The Players' Theater (New York City) and the Randolph Percussion Festival. RYPE also inaugurated a Guest Artist Master Class Series and collaborated on the premiere of a work written specifically for them. RYPE alumni have continued their studies at The Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, University of Delaware, University of Michigan, University of North Texas, the U.S. Marine Band, Ithaca College, The College of New Jersey, and James Madison University.
