About This Activity

The annual Neuse River Bridge Run courses are pending USATF certified, point-point footraces that are surrounded by water and beautiful historic downtown New Bern, NC. This race benefits local nonprofit organizations that in turn promote the health of our community. Never before have your registration fees gone to help so many! Runners will be shuttled to the race start from Union Point park. Last year's race had over 1,100 participants.

The Neuse River Bridge Run is held in 300-year-old historic downtown New Bern, offering magnificent views of the Neuse and Trent Rivers. There's plenty to do in and around town, spend some family time touring downtown New Bern, visiting Tryon Palace, or trying one of our delicious eateries.

Participants can choose between a half-marathon, 10K or a 5K course. Walkers may choose the 5K route. All courses are pending USATF certified and runners are timed. �The Neuse River Bridge Run Half Marathon is part of the 2012 Semper Fit Grand Prix Series.

The half-marathon starts at 7 a.m. The 10K race will start promptly at 7:30 a.m. The 5K race will start promptly at 8 a.m. Please arrive at Union Point Park no later than 7:45 a.m. if you are running the 5K. Race day registration and pre-registration packet pickup will close at 6:30 a.m. Don't forget to allow time for parking!

TIMING � � The bridge run uses the ChronoTrack System. A disposable BIBTAG is attached to the rear of the race bib and kept by the runner/walker.

ENTRY FEES � � Entry fees are non-refundable and include a race t-shirt, runner�s swag, pre-race pasta dinner, entry into the �Be Active, Be Healthy� Expo and the runner�s celebration activities. �Register online at active.com or use the form found here. �Registration prior to or on 10/1/12 is $35.00 (for the 10K and 5K), $50.00 for the half-marathon, and guarantees a t-shirt in your size. �After 10/1/12, the registration fee goes up $10.00 for each race and t-shirt size cannot be guaranteed.

EARLY PACKET PICK-UP � � Early packet pick-up is available and encouraged on Friday, October 19th, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center (203 S. Front Street) in downtown New Bern. �During this timeframe, we will be hosting a �Be Active, Be Healthy� Expo for the runners� enjoyment, so please make plans to join us.

PASTA PUSH-OFF DINNER � � While picking up your race packet, join us for a pasta dinner from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, October 19th, 2012 at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center. There is no fee for registrants, and guests may join registered runners for an additional fee of $10, which includes the Runners� Celebration after the event.

RACE COURSE � � The half-marathon, 10K, and 5K races are pending USATF certified point-to-point footraces. �On Saturday, October 20th, 2012 the starting time for the half-marathon is 7 a.m., the 10K starts at 7:30 a.m., and the 5K will start at 8 a.m. �The Neuse River Bridge Run Half Marathon is part of the 2012 Semper Fit Grand Prix Series.

PARKING � � Free parking will be available in and around downtown New Bern. NO PARKING AT UNION POINT PARK. Please allow ample time to walk to Union Point Park.

BAGGAGE AREA � � Runners only. �A table will be set up inside the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center. �Runners will retrieve their items from the same location. �The Neuse River Bridge Run and its affiliates will not be responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.

RUN FINISH LINE � � Move swiftly through the finish chute. DO NOT STOP! Continue through the chute to the Neuse River side of Union Point park for refreshments and water.

AWARDS � � All runners must be chip-timed to be eligible for an award. Awards will be given to the top 3 overall 5K, 10K, and half-marathon male and female finishers, along with the top 3 male and female in the following age categories: under 15, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over. Award ceremony will begin inside the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center at approximately 10 a.m. Awards cannot be mailed.

SUPERKIDS FUN RUN � � This event will take place outside the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center on Friday, October 19th, 2012 at approximately 5:30 p.m. and is open to kids 10 and under. A first place finisher will be recognized at the awards ceremony after the race in four age groups: 3-4; 5-6; 7-8; and 9-10. All participants will receive a medal at the official Neuse River Bridge Run finish line. Children must be registered to participate and should report to the start area 15 minutes prior to their start time. Entry fee is $15 per child and includes a t-shirt, medal, pasta-push-off dinner and runners� celebration tent entry.

RUNNERS� CELEBRATION � � All runners, paid-in-advance guests, and volunteers are invited to celebrate the runners� accomplishments after the awards ceremony at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center. Live music and food will be provided.

SPECIAL SAFETY CONDITIONS
1\tNo babyjoggers, pets or inline skates will be permitted.
2\tWheelchair participants are permitted, but please contact us at the time of registration for necessary accommodations.
3\tA shuttle will pick up remaining participants on the courses at 11:00 a.m. to insure participant safety.
4\tTraffic will be stopped only for brief periods. Runners/walkers must be aware of moving traffic at all times. City streets will not be officially closed. The passenger lanes of Hwy. 17S and 70W, over the Trent River will be closed.
5\tNo children under 10 years old are permitted to participate. Please check out the SuperKids' Fun Run for your children under 10 years of age.
