SCHEDULE: 8 Hour is 9am to 5pm on Saturday, Oct. 4
The 24 Hours is 8:30am Saturday Oct. 4 to 8:30am Sunday, Oct. 5
RACE DAY ENTRY: It's best to pre-enter on-line, by mail or in person at the NEED Camp on Friday. Race Day entry is from 6:30-7am only and there is a $10 per rider late fee. Race day packet pick-up is 6:00 to 8:00 am, BUT, we strongly urge racers to check-in the day before at NEED Camp from 3pm to 7pm. Riders Meeting: All team captains must attend the the riders meetings and we strongly suggest that all riders attend too.
DIRECTIONS: Whiskeytown Lake is about 12 miles west of Redding off of Highway 299. Watch for a blue sign reading Whiskeytown Visitor Center. Be sure to stop at the center and pay your $5 day fee...rangers will ticket vehicles not diplaying a day pass. From the visitor center stay on the main road for about 3 miles, sign-up is at the NEED Camp.
Start/Finish Time & Location: We'll start the races promptly at their scheduled times. The start/finish is in the NEED Camp and will be clearly marked. ONLY LAPS COMPLETED by 5pm for the 8hour or 8:30am for the 24 Hour will be counted.
Lap Counting: Each team will be provided with a wood baton that must be carried by the rider on course. Only one rider from your team is allowed on course at any time. At the finish line, upon the completion of each lap, the rider must stop to have Team Bigfoot staff record the time. CHANGE RIDERS AT TRANSITION AREA, NOT AT THE FINISH LINE. Racers waiting to take over for a teammate should stay near the Transition Area located just past the finish line. Baton hand off must take place at the designated transition area.
Course & Markings: The course is roughly 10 miles long with about 1000' of climbing. We'll use standard arrows and ribbon and such.
Self Sufficiency Rule: The standard NORBA self-sufficiency cross-country rules apply, meaning that once on course, only the rider may work on the bike & only with tools & parts carried on the bike. Each lap mush be completed on the same bike on which it began. Once back at the finish line you can switch bikes, get help from your team or spectators or Santa Claus, but you gotta get there under your own power.
Awards: We'll have plaques for 1st, 2nd & 3rd in all categories. We'll also raffle off some cool sponsor schwag. The better you and your team do, the more raffle tickets you'll get.

CABINS: Rather not camp? We've reserved a block of cabins right at the race venue. They sleep 8, with access to showers and bathrooms, all for only $50. Available Friday and Saturday night. Reserve early, there's a limited number of cabins. To reserve a cabin check the cabin box on the entry form and include payment.
*ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED AT THE NEED CAMP: This is a school **district facility, they're very strict on this and will issue citations to violaters. If you gotta have a cold one, please, get a campsite and have it there.
