The 2010 Opelousas Rotary Sunrise Duathlon and Louisiana State Duathlon Championship being held on May 23, 2010 is the makeup race for the March 21 postponement.

2010 Louisiana State Duathlon Championship Race

The Opelousas Rotary Sunrise Duathlon is proud to be the home of the Louisiana State Duathlon Championship. Opelousas is centrally located in Louisiana and is perfect course to hold the championship race. The course (particularly the bike course) is much improved as the roads have been fixed and the route has been changed. Awards will be given out for the first Louisiana resident finisher in the following categories: Overall, Masters & GrandMasters - Male and Female.

Welcome to the 14th annual Opelousas Rotary Sunrise Duathlon. The design of the course is perfect for the beginner duathlete but yet challenging for even the more seasoned veteran duathletes. So come to historic Opelousas and join us for a day of great duathlon racing! The first 2 mile run will meander through scenic Indian Hills Subdivision. The bike route will take you down Prudhomme Lane to the I-49 Service Road going North. The participants will then turn off the service road and eventually get on Hwy. 743. Upon reaching the 8 mile mark the cylists will then follow the same route back to the transition area. The second 2 mile run will follow the same route as the first 2 mile run. ENTRY FEES Individual: Through May 23 $40.00 Non-USA Triathlon Members must add $10.00 for a one-day license to the above prices. Team: Through May 23: $65.00 ONLY 2 MEMBERS PER RELAY TEAM! EACH NON-USA TRIATHLON MEMBER MUST ADD $10 FOR A ONE-DAY MEMBERSHIP. RACE DAY EVENTS Packet Pick-up/Registration opens 6:00 a.m. Packet Pick-up/Registration closes 7:30 a.m. Race Starts 8:00 a.m. Post Race Party 9:30 a.m. Awards Ceremony 10:15 a.m. NEW THIS YEAR! As an optional item, a Catholic Mass and a Non-Denominational Worship Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. following the race and awards ceremony. This is being offered to all participants, their families and friends. RULES: This event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon. Helmets must be worn! All USA Triathlon Rules will be in effect and enforced for the Duathlon. SORRY NO REFUNDS. ONLY 2 MEMBERS PER RELAY TEAM! NON USA TRIATHLON MEMBERS MUST ADD $10 FOR A ONE-DAY MEMBERSHIP. USA TRIATHLON CARD AND DRIVER'S LICENSE MUST BE SHOWN AT PACKET PICK-UP. UNREGISTERED PARTICIPANTS (Section 3.5) Any person who participates in any portion of a sanctioned event without first properly registering and paying any required registration fee shall be suspended or barred from membership in USA Triathlon and barred from participation in any sanctioned event for a period of one year. Any person who in any way assists another athlete to violate Section 3.5a by providing or selling a race number to that athlete shall be suspended or barred from membership in USA Triathlon and barred from participation in any sanctioned event for a period of up to one year. Any second violation of this Section shall result in a lifetime suspension or ban from membership in USA Triathlon. DIRECTIONS: From I-10 East or West, take Exit 103A in Lafayette and go north on I-49 to Opelousas. Take Exit 19B onto La. Hwy. 190 West Opelousas. Turn right at first light on Wallior St. (near Exxon). Go north on Wallior St. to Prudhomme Lane. Turn left to staging area at Opelousas General Hospital. From I-49 North, take Exit 19 and turn right onto La. Hwy. 190 West Opelousas. Turn right at first light onto Wallior St. (near Exxon). Travel north on Wallior St. to Prudhomme Lane. Turn left to staging area at Opelousas General Hospital.
