Brief Description

Traverse Area Community Sailing is now accepting registrations for the 2011 Sessions. Sessions are filled on a first come first served basis. Session dates begin June 20 and run through August 26th at the Cornwell Sailing Center at Hull Park on the north end of Boardman Lake, behind the TC Public Library. Cost for a two-week half-day session or a 1 week full day session is $180. Cost for a two-week full-day session is $340. Sailing Passes are $75 for students, $150 for adults & $225 per family.

Registration Instructions

Once you have complete registration for one session or class, click continue. Before you finish the registration process you will have the opportunity to register another child, register someone else, or register (your child) for another category (session/class/season pass). Request for refund must be made in writing, 30 days prior to the start of each session. A 15% handling fee will be charged.

Active Advantage Membership

You will see a "Membership Discount" on the session/class/membership selection section of this online form. This membership discount is for registrants that have a membership in the Active Advantage benefits program offered by Active.com. It is not a discount for TACS members.

Youth Learn To Sail Sessions

Ages 8-17 can learn the art of sailing! Designed to teach sailing basics and beyond. When registering, please indicate experience level. Instruction is customized to the student! Beginning students each have their own Optimist Dinghy, sized just for young sailors: 8 foot long wooden sailing prams that are lightweight, safe and stable. These craft are so easy to operate that they are the world-wide choice of junior sailing programs. This program builds self-esteem and personal confidence in a fun-filled stimulating environment.
Half day sessions are recommended for children under the age of 10. Full day class may be hard on the younger students.

AM Half Day (9am - noon)
PM Half Day (1-4pm)
or Full Day (9-4pm)

Cost is $180 for half day, 2 week session or a 1 week full day session. $340 for a 2 week full day session

Special Session Dates
TACS Advanced Sailing: June 20 - July 1

TACS offers an Advanced Sailing Sessions, designed to transition sailors from beginner to more advanced sailing including advanced boat handling skills, spinnaker handling, sail trim, racing rules and tactics. If you are interested, please contact us as the camps are limited to 32 sailors. Advanced Sailing is a 2 week, full day camp on June 20st to July 1nd and the cost is $ 340. p> --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Adult Learn to Sail
Each session will meet three nights a week for two weeks, the 6 classes will run from 6:00PM to 9:00PM on Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday evenings at the TACS Site located on the North end of the Boardman Lake. The cost per person will be $ per session. Lessons are targeted toward the individuals skills and experience.

Teaches the skills and responsibilities of sailing.
Sessions meet Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday evenings.
Sessions are approximately 3 hours.

Cost is $275 per 3 week session.

TACS Racing Team

Take it to the next level. Looking to fine tune your skills and taste the racing element of sailing? This is the next stage for you.

TACS Race team members will train three mornings a week. We will particpate in area regattas and US Sailing events. In addition sailing team members are invited to join a TACS crew to race on our Interlakes (3 person crews) and race with the GTYC adult racers on Thursday nights. TACS Coaches will provide coaching, assistance on the race course as well as a safety boat during the races.

Cost is $200 per season. Tuesday, Wednesday & and Thursday morings, Thursday nights

TACS High School Race Team: Spring & Fall

TACS is sponsoring High School Race Teams that provide the opportunities for local students in grades 9 – 12 to race in Inter-Scholastic Sailing Competition. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TACS Season Passes
Any qualified adult or youth sailor who has successfully completed a TACS sailing program or equivalent US Sailing-certified program is eligible. One ANNUAL FEE allows participation in Thursday Night Fun Nights or any other time an instructor and safety boat is on the water and the Hull Park facility is open, subject to availability. Use of boats limited by skill and certification level. Youth passes ages 8 to 17.

$225 Family pass
$150 Adult pass
$75 Youth pass Cancellation requests must be made IN WRITING more than 30 days prior to the start of each session. A 15% handling fee will be charged. NO REFUNDS will be made for cancellations within 30 days of the start of each session.
