Brief Description

You will be pleasantly surprised when you arrive on race day. The Salamonie area is very unique. You will ask yourself, “Is this really northern Indiana”. The race area has on large, make that huge, lake, surrounded by forest and open fields. In addition, there are lots of little creeks, limestone waterfalls and ponds sprinkled throughout the park. While scouting for this race, we have seen a wide variety of cool territory, plants (bloodroot is the coolest) and animals.

Additional Information

You will see a wide variety of terrain. While scouting, we saw a wide variety of cool territory, plants (bloodroot is the coolest) and animals. We have seen everything from bald eagles to a den of baby foxes. The area you see will depend on the race you sign up for. The 8-hour race explores much more of the park and will expose you to a wider variety of terrain; however, it will be significantly harder both physically and will require more navigation skills. The 4-hour race is specifically designed to be much easier; unfortunately, you will not get to experience as much diverse topography. We would love to see you at the race. If you have any questions, please e-mail, micah@metzgeroutdoors.com or matt@metzgeroutdoors.com 2 people / team. If you need a canoe rental each teammember will pay 1/2 of total rental during registration. We are very fortunate to have a great race location. The start/finish line is located a Salamonie State park. If you have not been here before, you are in for a treat. There are numerous bald eagles, open water, a river, waterfalls, cliffs, and stream. The race is a short drive from Fort Wayne, South Bend and Indianapolis. You are welcome to camp at the park the night prior to the race. We will be there setting up for a big day of adventure. Please feel free to bring, friends or family to hangout during the race. Once the race is over, we'll supply free food, some nice door prizes and awards.
