The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board offers baseball leagues, clinics and special events for ages 8-18. In partnership with the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Twins Community Fund, the MPRB has been able to offer a quality baseball program for thousands of kids in the city. The goal of this position is to instruct players how to play the game, learn sportsmanship, have a positive experience, learn and develop new skills and socialize with others. Training is provided by supervisor. SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Practice day/times are determined by coach?s availability. T-ball games are on Saturdays at various north side parks. Baseball & softball games are during the week starting in mid-May. TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Including but not limited to the following): 1. Teaching youth the game of baseball/softball. 1.1. Responsible for the supervision of registered baseball players. 1.2. Creates a positive, safe and nurturing learning environment. 1.3. Runs drills, skill building, manages low-key games and scrimmages. 1.4. Stresses fun, sportsmanship, and teamwork. 2. Maintains good working relationship with players, parents, staff, and officials. 2.1 Communicates well with staff, players, and parents about practices and games. 2.2 Provide assistance to game officials to ensure game is played by the rules and with good sportsmanship. 2.3 Treat players, parents, and staff with respect and ensure players, spectators and supporters do the same. 2.4 Insure equal playing time for all participants.
