It's time to gear up for five kilometers of fashion don'ts: our Hideous Holiday Sweater Run. Don your loudest, tackiest holiday knitwear and join us at Kensington Metropark, November 9 at 9:00 a.m. Run or walk the 5K or 1-mile course and help support the Scleroderma Foundation of Michigan. Prizes will be given for the most heinous sweater, and for the fastest three runners at each distance. Forgotten Harvest will also be on site collecting canned goods for those in need.
A brisk run through the park, beautiful scenery, really horrible sweaters?what more could you ask? How about beer, snacks and prizes? We?ll have samples of beer from Witch?s Hat Brewing Company, hot chocolate, delicious soup from Zoup!, sugar cookies, snow cones, candy necklaces?miles of treats to reward you for your miles of running. If that?s not enough motivation to keep you going, we?ll also have cheering squads along the race course (who just might toss you a few goodies along the way) and a race photographer to capture your hideous holiday sweater moments. Don?t forget to bring your kids, too (strollers are welcome). Finally, cap off your day by making someone else?s holiday a little better?we?ll be collecting canned food for Forgotten Harvest at the event. Don?t want to run, but want to be part of the fun? Sign up to volunteer at the race.
