Huntington's DiseaseHuntington's Disease (HD) is an inherited degenerative brain disorder which results in loss of both mental capability & physical control. HD usually strikes between the ages of 30 and 50. Over a period of 10-15 years, the ability to think, speak, walk & perform the daily tasks of living is greatly diminished. The affected individual is frequently a parent whose children have 50% chance of inheriting the disease themselves. There is no cure for Huntington's Disease. The South Florida Chapter of the Huntington's Disease Society of America was established in 1990. The chapter is built on volunteers and is dedicated to improving the care of those suffering from Huntington's Disease and to its eradication through research. 100% of all proceeds from the Huntington's Disease Triathlon will go directly to research.
