Garden Day: Animals and humans can both benefit from a garden! Learn how the Hohokam (native people of the Phoenix area) planted and grew crops in the desert. Help us plant some seeds that will grow into yummy treats for the animals. After we water the garden, we will water ourselves and enjoy sprinklers and water balloon fights!

“Art on the Farm” Camp- (ages 8-12)

Start each day out with farm chores including feeding, watering, cleaning and collecting eggs. Get to know the animals since they will be your art inspiration! A Farm Fresh snack is included mid morning.

Monday-Learn how the Hohokam (native people of the Phoenix area) built pottery for cooking, storage and ceremonial use. Hand build your own coil pot that we will pitfire on Friday.

Tuesday-Take a walk through our garden and search for pieces of Mother Nature with interesting textures to use in a creative printmaking project.

Wednesday-Weaving can be art or functional. You will learn how yarn is made from wool (ask our sheep Andy about his wool!). You will learn basic weaving techniques to make a woven wall hanging and decorate the weaving with found natural objects gathered on our nature walks.

Thursday-We are big on recycling at the farm! Even the cows recycle! Learn to use reclaimed wood as a canvas for a sign or animal painting.

Friday-Fire the coil pot that you constructed earlier in the week using traditional pitfire methods.
