Join us for the 5th Annual Shun the Sun Run to benefit the Shun the Sun Foundation! This evening run is an event for the whole family with 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and 1.5M Family Fun Run options. After crossing the home plate finish line where at the Cubs Spring Training stadium, stay to enjoy the post-race activities including a live band, KidZone and Health & Wellness Expo.
Shun the Sun Foundation is dedicated to increasing the awareness of skin cancer through education and prevention, while still living a healthy and active lifestyle. This race was created to help raise that awareness within our community and state where skin cancer has left its mark and still continues to do so today. Come join us as we strive to live healthy lifestyles, while staying active and having a great time with friends and family!Course Info: This flat and fast course starts just outside of Hohokam Stadium and runs along the graded and paved canals in Mesa. All runners finish the race inside the stadium by crossing home plate where some of the best Cubs players in history have played. Family, friends, a KidZone, a live band, along with plenty of food and health vendors will be along the side lines cheering you on, adding just the right amount of excitement as you finish this amazing race!Prizes will be given to the top 3 overall finishers for the Half Marathon, 10K and 5K, with the top 3 in each age/gender category receiving a medal. All participants in all races will receive a finishers medal.Online Registration closes November 5, 2013 at 11:59pmDay of Race Registration starts at 3:00pm, outside of the Hohokam Stadium entrance.
