Danse Orientale, formerly folk dances of the Middle-East and Africa, is one of the few dance styles you can continue to do as you age. The non-impact and low-impact movements provide a total workout without putting stress on joints. The dance moves strengthen and tone the whole body, especially the core muscles necessary for balance and good posture. A study by Stanford University found that the activity which was best at preventing Alzheimer's Disease was social dance. Students who complete a month of learning basic moves and continue with the class for the next month will be taught a new style of social dance which does not require partners ?
