About This Activity

This class introduces the dancer to the basic principles of modern dance.  The curriculum is based on a variety of modern dance techniques with additional explorations in dance improvisation modern dance is a dance style that centers on a dancer's own interpretations instead of structured steps, as in traditional ballet dancing.  Modern dance utilizes some principals of ballet while at the same time rejects the limitations of ballet and utulizes ideas of fall and recovery, bound flow, release techniques, taking weight into the hands and involves some athletic movements.  Modern dance is danced barefoot.
