The Pain in the Mass Tour is a Two Day Event covering 176 miles of Massachusetts toughest terrain. With a total climbing elevation of 10,200 ft. this Tour takes riders to to the summits of both Mt. Wachusett & Mt. Greylock. This is one of the only charity cycling rides to combine Team Racing & General Riders in one combined event.
PLEASE NOTE this is a FUNDRAISING EVENT. Each rider, whether part of a team or as an individual rider, is required to raise a minimum of $250. You will be responsible for any amount of the $250 that is not raised.
The Team Challenge:
The team challenge will feature cycling teams of 5 to compete against one another for the lowest combined time. The team with the lowest combined time shall be declared the winner of the tour. Register your cycling team to participate in The Pain in the Mass Tour TODAY! Each team must consist of 5 members with at least one female rider per team. Each team should include one team captain, one sprinter, one climber, and two domestiques (3 if the captain is your sprinter or climber.
The General Rider:
General riders can choose from the 2-Day event or the 1 Day Century Ride.
2-Day Ride: For the advanced cyclist that does not have any TEAM affiliation but would like to join in on the challenge that this ride presents, this is the choice for you. Day 1 features mixed terrain with several climbs as riders enter the Berkshires. Day 2 tests your endurance with major climbs along route 2 and to the summit of Mt. Greylock. Both of these climbs have challenging descents that follow.
1-Day Century Ride: Looking to take part in the most challenging century ride in Massachusetts while helping a great cause? This ride starts in Marlboro and ends in Greenfield and is highlighted by a climb up Mt. Wachusett and the rolling hills that surround the Quabbin Reservoir. After the first half of the days climbing is over, the terrain is less taxing as we cruise along the banks of the Connecticut River.
After the century ride, riders will have the option to stay overnight and join us along the roads of Mt. Greylock to watch the riders that are taking part of the 2-Day Tour pass by and encourage the teams up the mountain. Once the tour passes you will be bussed to the finish line where the end of the tour BBQ & events await.
2013 Event Details:
The 2013 Pain in the Mass Tour will be a "Beta" ride with a limited amount of Teams (2) and General Riders (20).
