Lace up your sneakers for the first annual Hill Country Marathon in Marble Falls, Texas!
Coined as the “Most Beautiful Marathon in Texas,” this unique road race will take place on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 7:00am starting at Marble Falls High School. Runners can register for a Full Marathon, Half Marathon or 10k race, all of which are on an out and back paved road course. Local hill country vendors from around Central Texas will be representing their city in the post-race celebration.
The Hill Country Marathon is a challenging, yet remarkably beautiful road-race experience. Set among the scenic rolling Hill Country roads, the course is designed to engage a runner’s desire for challenge, while providing a picturesque racing experience. Racers will have the chance to lose themselves in the pure and utter beauty of the Texas roads less travelled, and immerse themselves in the scenery often overlooked. Throughout the course, runners will find well-stocked aid stations at regular intervals and clear course markings.
A portion of proceeds of the Hill Country Marathon will go to Serve Who Serve, a local nonprofit that offers assistance to local military families. In addition to Serve Who Serve, local Central Texas nonprofit organization, The Phoenix Center, whose mission is to provide high-quality mental health care for children in need in rural central Texas, will be hosting the Phoneix Family 1 Mile Fun Run at 11:30AM open to children of all ages. To learn more about Serve Who Serve, visitwww.servewhoserve.org, and to learn more about The Phoenix Center, please visit www.supportcampphoenix.org.
The race will be a family friendly event, with plenty of activities throughout the morning of the race for race spectators, families and children to enjoy. Local Hill Country food vendors will be selling nibbles, and unique craftsmanship and artwork will be on display at the Hill Country Marathon fair, located in the parking lot of the Marble Falls High School stadium. In addition to the race fair, children can participate in The Phoenix Center Kids 1 Mile Fun Run. For more information about the Hill Country Marathon please visitwww.runthehillcountry.com.
